Bringing Home Baby? 4 Ways To Ensure Good Air Quality

Business Blog

If you're about to bring a baby into your home, you need to make sure that everything is safe and secure. If you're like most new parents, you've baby-proofed your home to prevent accidents. You might have even installed a new security system to increase safety and security. But you might not have done anything to ensure good air quality for your little one. If you haven't, now's the time to make some changes. Poor air quality can increase the occurrence of allergy symptoms and can increase the risk for asthma. If you want to protect your baby from problems associated with poor air quality, here are four tips you should follow.

Install an Air Purifier

If you're worried about the air quality in your home, the first thing you need to do is install an air purifier. An air purifier will remove the irritants and pollutants that can cause breathing problems for your baby. For maximum benefits, you should install a whole-house air purifier. But if that's not in your budget, you can install portable air purifiers in the rooms where your baby will spend most of their time.

Change Filters as Needed

Once you've installed your air purifiers, there are still steps you can take to clean the air inside your home. One of those steps involves the filters in your home. You might think that changing your HVAC filters will do the job, but that's not the case. You should also change other filters in your home, including the filter in your vacuum. If you don't change the filter in your vacuum, you may release harmful pollutants and allergens back into the air. Unfortunately, that means your baby will be breathing those into their delicate lungs. Prevent that from happening. Change the filters in your home as often as necessary. .

Limit the Nursery Irritants

If you want to maintain clean air for your baby, be sure to limit the irritants that go into the nursery. The wrong paint, flooring, and furniture can increase the number or irritants inside the nursery. First, choose paint that contains no volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Second, choose environmentally friendly furniture. Finally, avoid using things like carpet freshener or spraying room deodorizers in the nursery.

Track the Air Quality

Finally, once you've installed the air purifier and taken steps to reduce the irritants in the nursery, there's still another step you can take. You can track the air quality inside your home. Utilizing an air quality tracking system will help you protect your new baby from the dangers associated with poor air quality.
